Girls Academy (GA) - Learn more about the GA

SDSC Surf is proud to be a member of the Girls Academy League (GA). We have always strived to put out players in environments that will maximize growth opportunities. The GA has done this for our girls program as it provides the best competition in Southern California, as well as national exposure opportunities. Not only does the GA provide great competition for our program, but they empower the girls who play in the league to have a say in how the league runs and moves forward. Our top teams in the age groups of U13-19 (6 teams) play in the GA. Top younger teams are our Pre-GA teams.

Development Players League (DPL) - Learn more about the DPL

Our girls program is also a member of the Development Players League (DPL). This league and provides strong competition for our second teams in the club and also allows them to compete on a national scale. The schedule of the DPL mirrors that of the GA. Our younger second teams are our Pre-DPL teams.

A season as part of the GA/DPL with SDSC Surf looks like this:

  • Practice begins in July

  • 3x per week of training

  • Top-level coaching

  • Filming of all games

  • Several summer tournaments to showcase players for college coaches, as well as prepare for the league season

  • A college recruiting coordinator invested on helping you find opportunities to play at the next level

  • Approximately 8-10 games in the fall for the GA and 11-13 for the DPL fall season.

  • Both the GA and DPL teams will play in at least one showcase, with an option to play in others. These showcases are likely to be held outside of CA and are heavily attended by college scouts.

  • All games are played on top quality fields with Athletic Trainers at each match to help in case there are injuries.

  • Our high school aged teams will be allowed to play high school soccer in the months of November through the end of February.

  • Our non-high school aged teams, U11-14, will take time off in December and resume with 2x per week training and potentially some league games in the months of Jan/Feb.

  • All teams resume with full 3x per week training in March through the end of May.

  • Teams will play approximately an 8-10 game season in the spring.

  • The league season concludes by early June.

  • The U15-U17 GA teams are required to play in an end of the year showcase that will require travel in late June. The other GA teams are required to attend if they qualify for playoffs.

  • The DPL teams, if they qualify, will have playoffs that require travel in mid to late June.
